SPRING AWAKENING wins 2 IRNE Awards read more
Spring Awakening is often called the 'most censored play in theater history' not being performed uncensored until 75 years after it was written.

Spring Awakening, written in the 1890’s, is Frank Wedekind’s ground breaking play about adolescent sexuality that is the most censored play in history, not getting produced as written for 75 years. The show examines the lives of teenagers in provincial Germany as their sexual awakenings are repressed by the conservative society of their parents. Proving timeless a century later, the play is the basis for the Tony Award winning musical of the same name. The production features a new translation and adaptation by Artistic Director David J. Miller and his partner Reinhold A. Mahler. The cast consist of local teenager actors, all of them making their Zeitgeist Stage debuts with this masterpiece of modern theater.
